Home fragrance diffusers (once liquid runs out)

Hi everyone,

I have one of these: http://www.boots.com/en/Sanctuary-Classic-Fragrance-Diffuser_867751/ Home fragrance diffuser. Now the liquid has run out, and I don't want to throw the sticks and the bottle away, but have not been able to find a scented liquid to replace it. I used some laundry liquid, but the scent is not strong enough and there is no diffusion.

Is there a moneysaving solution? or do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

I have something similar but mine hasn't yet run out. Is it possible to buy a fragrance oil that you like and refill the glass bottle? Does Sanctuary do their own refills? Maybe ask Boots or contact Sanctuary direct.

Was the original scent oil based or water based? If oil based, veg oil with as many drops of essential oil as it takes to make the scent you want might work. If (more likely) water based, how about orange flower water or rosewater?

I hate to say it, though, but you may have blocked the pores in the diffusing sticks with the laundry liquid. They'll need a really good soak.

    Thanks to both of you.

    I will try rosewater.

In the mean time, I was wondering if the oils from the perfume parlour http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=869985&highlight=perfumes
    would work dissolved?
  • Hmm, I wonder if that would work for the plug in diffusers? I just bought a refill for the Febreze Plug & Refresh - and it cost me £4.00!! :(
Would essential oils do the trick in that I wonder?
