washer dryer

Many years ago, we vowed never to buy another washer dryer after buying one when we installed a new kitchen in our old flat. It worked OK - but it was a very narrow kitchen, and we had to dismantle the whole kitchen less than two years later to take out the washer/dryer when it gave up the ghost.
We now have a separate washer and old-fashioned front-vented dryer (don't think you can get them any more), but we are thinking of redoing the (not enormous) kitchen in our house. It would save a lot of space if we could combine the two.
Our current washing machine is a 15-year-old Miele and it's as good as new, so we're reluctant to get rid of it. Which is why we are thinking of a Miele washer/dryer. Expensive - but if it's still going in 20 years, we'll have had our money's worth. Any personal experiences? Or anyone know where I can find any?

I wouldn't have another washer/dryer. Had endless probs with both Hotpoint & Indesit ones. Miele or Bosch (if they do them) may be better I dont know.
Have you thought about stacking your dryer on top of the washer? A friend had this done recently in her new kitchen, had a cupboard built around it, works great. With a condenser dryer you can put them anywhere. If you do get a washer/dryer it's one of the few cases I'd recommend taking out an extended warrenty. Although, does Miele come with that as standard? Or buy from John Lewis where you get 2 years guarantee. They'll price match, but has to be exact model, in a nearby shop so online bargains dont count.0 -
I bought a washer/dryer - worst appliance I have ever bought. 2 yrs later I had to buy a dryer as the dryer part stopped working - the whole appliance is now 4 yrs old and the programmer is not working properly.0

We've had two washer dryers and I wouldn't give another one house room due to poor performance, inefficiency and breaking down  We've now got a washing machine and a tumble dryer and even though I had to resort to putting the dryer in the spare room due to lack of space in the kitchen I would never go back to a combined machine. There are the playthings of satan, designed in the outer reaches of hell and made to drive you bonkers
