OMG I've just spoken to boyfriend (the greedy one who microwaves bacon) and read him what I'd said about him... He is now insisting (in his beer fuggled state) that I correct the misinformation...

My microwave is an 800W Cat E and he says bacon takes "one minute per slice and 50% extra on top". So for three slices he'd say it's 4 and a half minutes. He also says "lay a bit of kitchen roll on it and it doesn't spit, but not recycled kitchen roll because that can have tiny bits of metal in and then you see the microwave arcing [making sparks]"

What pray other kind of kitchen roll does he think I buy!

Note to self: Buy splatter guard first thing tomorrow!

My OH also works away from home and has a microwave to 'cook' his food in as well as access to a kettle and a toaster. He usually takes HM ready meals which are our normal dinners with a couple of extra portions cooked and frozen in plastic take away containers. We generally remember to lable them, but occasionally he does have a week of suprises. Like most of the above suggestions he has things like stews, curries, chilli, pasta bakes, pies. Kept all together in the freezer so he can make his selection quickly and none of them get lost/forgotten. Also at work he keeps a stash of tinned things like soup, baked beans, veggie ravioli incase if forgets to go to the freezer on his way out or he is very hungry (keeps him from nipping out for expensive calorific snacks :D). Additionally he takes a HM loaf, cheese, yoghurt, cereal, supplemented by a selection of jars of pickle, jam, marmite. He is lucky in the fact that his work supply, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, biscuits and fruit.

Between this and my OH sleeping at Travel lodge (£9 per night deal :money:), it cost very little money for my OH to work away from home

About takeaway containers- you can also buy them brand new in Poundland, ten for a quid with lids.

I batch cook spag bol, chilli bolly bake, meatballs, sheppy pie etc. I have tins and lids ready all the time, so any leftovers are always frozen.

We just ease them from the foil tray, plop onto a plate and zap for about 6~7 mins. Nothing lasts too long in the freezer, the kids love to snakc on 'em, but it's a darn site cheaper than buying them in, so I don't mind.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
