Hi Thrifty,my 14 year old daughter is diagnosed Aspergers with Sensory problems, she 'manages' in mainstream school but socially has no chance which is heartbreaking for me to watch as she is a wonderful girl (well I am her mum:) )
If you-or your son ever feel like a chat..or a moan about anything, please p.m. me anytime.
Take care
Moemum
my daughter is 9.
the social bit gets me too, and i know if she could just break through to some of her peers she could make a wonderful friend to the right child. Before she went to middle school she had just made friends with someone who went to a different middle school, but it was not possible for them to go to the other.
I just hope she manages it again, although she was almost obsessive about the friendship!

How young can a diagnosis be made? My SS has many of the classic symptoms but is only 4. The health people refuse to give him a label (which I was happy with at first) but now I see that once we know what we're dealing with, we can attempt to make his life as fulfilling and rewarding as possible. He's 4 and a half now but our 2 and half year-old daughter is advancing more than he is. He struggles with speech and is at speech therapy doing well (according to the mentor). He won't look at us when taking photos etc and his concentration is not good at all. He's not reading simple words yet no matter how hard I try.
Does anyone have any advice / books / groups or anything they'd suggest to help me learn how to asses/deal with this. I just want him to have the best life he can.
Thanks all :AI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.
