Study Text Books on CD/DVD - anyone used them?

Hi there,
Just been searching for some medical study books on ebay for my other half and came across someone selling 208 medical textbooks on cd/dvd. They had listed all the books and it was only cheap, not sure whether to get him one. Text books are so expensive (the one he really needs is £75 ) and so this seems a bit too good to be true.
Has anyone used these e-books or anything similar? Do you find them useful? I can't imagine that its as convenient as having an actual book in front of you but if they are easy to use it seems worth giving it a go?
What do you think?

Hi, I bought a virtual textbook in my first year of uni, and I'm now in my fourth. It was much cheaper, and I've found it pretty useful; as the book runs to nearly 2000 pages, the actual book is pretty hefty, and the search function is much easier to use than an index.
However, I don't like using it to read large chunks of text, and if I need to read more than a page at a time, I'll print it out. Some of my friends at uni bought e-books and had the same problem, and ended up buying the textbook too...it's not the cheaper option if you buy both!0
