Best meat to get?

We are down to one teeny pingpong ball of frozen mince in the freezer, so I need to go to Costco this week for more meat. Wondering what meat you all find goes furthest but is also more flexible ?
I am not mad on beef but we always seem to go for beef stew as I can't think of anything else. I am on a very limited budget !

I find a whole chicken lasts us (family of 4) for 3 days of meals...
Day 1: Roast chicken dinner.
Day 2: Cold chicken eg salad or with mash & pickles.
Day 3: Chicken soup.
xxxInfamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

If you can stretch to one of Costco's packs of steak I've found that they cut them so thick that you can make two normal sized steaks from every one.
If you stand the steak up on a board with the fat on the bottom (as if you were going to seal the fat in a hot pan) you can slice vertically through the meat and fat to make two thinner steaks.
You do need a very sharp knife, though - otherwise you'll be making your own (expensive) mince0 -
lamb. I stretch it with barley, leeks, swede and beans. Lovely in this weather0

I usually lay the steak down and cut it through, left to right. It's a good way of making it look like you've got more
I got the Asda 5 for a tenner packs this week.
A pack each of
2 x chicken breast
2 x leg lamb steaks
2 x gammon steeak
2 x pork chops
a pack of I think 650 g of mince that I split into 3 for the freezer.....
Plus the rump steak was only £4 a kilo so I got 3 packs for the freezer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Costco has a pack of 2 chickens for half price at the moment with the latest vouchers (can pick them up instore) - 2 whole chickens for £3.30ish - not free range but excellent value! Their mince is great quality too, and any of their joints can be cut into smaller joints for roasts.0

I love mince.
I love the sort of meals you make with mince.
Spag bol, minced beef wellington, chilli con carne, meatball currys, kofte kebabs, cottage pie, lasagne..........
All the best things are with mince.0 -
If you like stir fries , they can be made with very little meat. Some of the cheap rump steak or chicken breast from Asda will go a long way with loads of veg and noodles. Just slice it with a very sharp knife soon (less than hour depending on temp of kitchen) after it comes out of freezer and then it will be thin enough to share out and to cook quickly.0
