Santanders takeover of GE money

Has anyone else come across closed accounts and unwanted accident insurance being opened up again and charged for on an ASDA store card?
Phone calls pre-porting to be from Santander feel and sound like phishing without actually talking to a person initially.
Phoning the ASDA customer service number had no effect despite verbal assurance that they would and had sorted the matter. No number that I can find or have been supplied with for Santander directly, works.
The card/account was originally closed at about the time of Santanders takeover of GE money.
Anyone had the same experience?
