Multiple phone numbers

Hi, I would like to have multiple numbers (at least 10+) that I could access from home (online?) I would need these numbers to check for messages, can this be done for free or very little expense, to make this work I would try to be as flexible as possible so any suggestions welcome:) The numbers could also be mobile numbers, would this be the best option?
