my dog prefers my hubbie!

Hi all, just wondering if any other dog owners experience the same, i have a girl dog and even though i am the one who walks her, feeds her and plays with her mostly, she still seems to choose hubby over me  if me and hubby sat on the couch together she will always go to him first.

Is it a male presence kinda thing? Even in a morning she will wait until hubby comes down before coming out of her crate unless i coax her and she goes mad when he does come down :D but no so with me, do you think i'm doing something wrong?

She obeys me better than my husband and i seem to have more control over her, any ideas as it would be nice if she was excited to see me in the mornings :D

My girl dog loves me in the mornings as she knows I'll be doing her tuna on toast :rotfl: but aside from that, she loves her 'dad' the most.
But the boy dog, Barney loves me the most.....

You might have hit the nail on the head there..... would your best friend be the one who bossed you about or the one who was easy going? :rotfl:
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

I don't think your doing anything wrong! I have all female dogs and they all prefer me and very warey of males, but I do know that if I'm out in the paddock with them they all come to me first then have a sniff round OH and come back to me!! Its just dogs for you I think!

My kitten does exactly the same, I'm the one that spends all day with her, feeds her, plays with her, fusses over her... and then as soon as my fiance gets home after work she'll spend the night chasing him round and sitting on his lap. It makes me a bit jealous sometimes!! haha I guess it's just because she misses him during the day.

Its an animal feeling. My parrot goes to my boyfriend for cuddles even though Im the one that plays with him, cleans him and feeds him.

When I was younger I lived with friends of the family who had several dogs and cats, including a Westie they'd had from a pup. She loved me so much that every day when I got home from work she'd meet me in the hall and pee herself with excitement!! They were wonderful owners, very loving but that one dog just liked me for some reason.

Do you feed your dog or does your OH? If you are the one to feed then she might start being more interested in you? Also do you go down to her level and give her a big fuss when she obeys you?

Dogs just tend to take to certain people...we have one rescue who absolutely worships my sister...another retriever we have loves my mother...as for me, I get the nuts terrier to comes to stay occasionally. I reckon we suit one another :D.

It's probably because you are always there and available to her whereas your hubby's attention is rationed and therefore more valuable.

When my dog was alive he used to go mad for my brother whenever he'd come to visit. My brother isn't really an animal person so would literally just pat him on the head and say hello. Didn't stop the dog whining for him. For some reason the dog just really liked him. :rotfl:
