  • We are in the same position, but I've spent HOURS trying to get a spare part. Considering Philips have produced a fine machine here only let down everyone by not supplying spares for this battery they have let themselves down. I'll never buy anything from them again.

This is because Phillips are ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS at product support for this product, having hived off all support to some call centre that seems to me to only pass you on to someone else. The "someone else" for the H12Y is normally the "Tech Guys", who can't find any reference to the H12Y and quite frankly haven't a clue what to do, but if they do something then they pass you on to "Part Master" who they said will have the part but don't (the part number is, by the way, written on the battery and its something like 2305042000 shown as 23+050420+00 and phillips battery numbers for the X61 start PHST so the part would seemimgly be PHST2305042000). When you ask them about the part they say it is obsolete. There is another battery that looks like the one for the H12Y part number PHST2305036000 but I'm a bit reluctant to try it as it could be a problem.

The laptop was purchased from PC World and I personally went to see them yesterday (phoning them doesn't work - they now route you through to a central telephone line which doesn't connect you to any human being). When I have been in touch they route you through to the "Tech Guys" (see above) so its all very depressing. But what I did find out was that it seems that some of the original Freevents laptops were purchased as a joint ventuire by PC World and Philips. I believe (though not confirmed) that the H12Y is, infact, the very first run of these machines and the next and subsequent batches were labelled something else, with a £100 price hike. It is therefore my opinion that PC World have to sort this out or give me my money back (or at least part of it) because I am disgusted that a machine as expensive and good as the freevents should be scrap in 3 years.

This may not help, but if you get anywhere let me know.

  • Hi,

I think I have located a battery that is compatible with the phillips X56, X52 laptops and have just ordered one.
I believe that the AVERATEC AV2370HM1E-1 Laptop Battery is the same battery.
My new battery is due for delivery over the weekend of 13th Feb 2010 and I'll post if it does or doesn't fit then.
  • Did it work?

I think you can safely say the guy who said he'd post back in the middle of February probably won't.

This appears to be what you're after though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370325460354

Hi, we bought via amazon, a vendor called shopforbattery. They are based in California. We paid a premium delivery charge, can't remember how much but the total cost was about £75 and they delivered in about 5 days.
