Dear Sir or Madam,

Account number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I purchased the above policy from you in December 2003 but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following reasons:

This is due to the fact that I knew I was soon to be unemployedwhen I took out the policy and I made this aware to your member of staff when the policy was sold. I was on Maternity Leave from the Royal Navy, but was due to leave.

This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as

  • your salesperson implied that taking out the policy would assist my credit application.
  • your salesperson did not tell me that the policy was optional and I have since realised that I could cancel.
  • i am concerned the sales assistant that sold me the policy has no financial background and the policy was not sold in my best interests.

Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to each payment made.

I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded within eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

Yours faithfully,

[insert your name (printed)]

Please could you advice on if im doing it wrong please? Also I have no paper work, But I know the charged PPI for a total of 3 years from DEC 2003 - DEC 2006. So im not sure whether I just send this off and wait to see? lol

Ok have amended the letter to a more understanding way maybe?

ooo just another question, Do I post to the address that CCCS gave me when I asked for a list of addresses to send FUll and Final settlement figures to.

    Or

Do I post to this address I just found in the address thread?

Its a LLoyds credit card, not a loan?

    Lloyds PPI
    Customer Care
    Lloyds TSB Insurance
    Tredegar Park
    Newport
    South Wales
    NP10 8SB

    Thanks for any help x

    Good luck with your claim.
The only thing that jumps out at me is that you are stating that the salesperson didn't tell you that it was optional and you also say that you didn't realise that you had it until you looked at paperwork. I may be being picky (the experts will be along soon to correct me if I am) but it appears to be a contradiction. Lloyds are hard enough to deal with and I wouldn't want you to give them wriggle room.

thanks for your opinion, I thought that too, but wasnt sure, I only thought that no one mentioned the PPI when I took credit card out so in a way I was never told it was optional as it just started to appear on my statements?

maybe I should delete the 1st one and maybe add on the end of the last one, that once I started on a DMP I realised I could actually cancel the PPI?

Im so confused lol Thank you for your help though :)

    • having recently looked at the paperwork for my credit card I now realise that I have been paying for insurance that I did not know I had taken out so could not have been explained to me. It was only when I started a DMP with the CCCS that they made me aware that I could actually cancel the Payment Protection Insurance that I was getting charged each month.
    Does that seem better?

if im truely honest my main reason of it being missold to me is obviously be becoming unemployed, But I just never knew what it was, I just thought it was about standard payment they add like interest?

it wasnt till the CCCS said It wasnt needed that I then cancelled it. I always just thought it was a bog standard thing on all credit lol

Just shows what heppens when 18/19 year olds get given way too much credit too soon.

I just hope the banks have stricters rules on giving too much credit too young adults before my kids are old enough to get in debt.
  • Good luck Beth,

When dealing with the forces we did as ordered, When dealing with banks we question EVERYTHING!

They will try to deflect any blame on their part so be prepared to send another letter in reply arguing against any points they raise. They will want to see if you will go the distance.

    Good Luck.
