Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi,have 2 laptops still in working order but broken..IYKNIM.
one wont charge?(bought new charger but think something loose inside laptop as will only work when held in position)...the other one has snapped wires in the hinge so cant get anything on the screen.
Just wondered of a likely cost to fix each one.
TIA
 Am thinking of a new one:beer:

The charger port is a common fault with laptops, and a fault quite simple for someone with a mediocre experience of electronics and soldering.

Look for dismantling instructions on the manufacturers site, or even youtube. This could be rapaired with no additional parts (assuming the bits are still there, just broken off, as it appears)

If you were to pay someone, expect about £70.

The screen issue is more expensive,
By the sounds of it, the cable connecting the screen to the mainboard has broken.
This cable is integrated with the screen (in most cases I have seen), so it will mean a replacement screen. No one is going to bother trying to repair those little wires (I wouldn't anyway!)

Screens are normally about the £70 mark.

Again, it is a reasonable task for someone with mediocre experience of electronics, it isn't technical, just involves loads of tiny screws to get there.

If you were to pay someone, add the fitting to the screen price, so about £100ish.

the lap tops arent the same make are they...then you could maybe save a bot by asking the screen of the good laptop that doesnt charge to be put on the laptop with the broken cables...just a thought.

  • Have a shufty on eBay for cheap(ish) screens, might not get the same colour but who really cares, as long as you can watch/use the laptop again!
