lcd tv prices and picture quality

I'm looking for a 32" lcd tv with hd ready and all that but I don't know much about electrical goods. Some friends say I should buy sony because of picture quality but I think its too expensive. Does anyone know if the cheaper makes have as good picture quality - although the cheapest I have found is £720 for a samsung. Someone help even with where I can get one cheap.
