Went to Turkey back in July ...... it was hot !
The turks are great salesmen , they take anything and everything
Sterling /Lire/ Euro /Dollar.
It also depends where you are going , I went to the Med coast , flew to Antalya
very geared up to the Euro ,
If you had asked ealier I would have said anything BUT sterling travellers cheques.
Travllers cheques .... I havent used for years.
I took £50 in Turkish Lire and a prepaid card
If I went again , I would take less Lire, only spent it on a daily paper
more Euros and the prepaid card.0 -
we were in marmaris in september all shops were happy to accept english notes and the exchange rate when buying goods worked out cheaper than paying in turkishytl.0

Take jhe advice ( and have a great time in marmaris)
I got my pre paid in a large branch of Tesco , I then used ATM's or in the smaller
towns they had currency 'shops' which I used .
Now someone will tell me I would have got a better deal at a bigger bank or an ATM
But when its well over 40 in the shade , and the atm or bank is a bus ride away
I will sacrifice the extra..... i'm on holiday.0 -

What on earth is "strelin checks t/c?"
I don't like emoticons and don't use them, butseems to be appropriate here.

PBS Sterling Travellers cheques
Pink girl i take it you have these left over from a previous holiday, so what you really need to know is does it cost you to change the tcqs in turkey unfortunately i dont know but someone will. The pre paid cards are better than tcqs i have a Thomas cook euro one but as the rate for euros isnt very good at the moment you'd probably be better with turkish lira but then you have the problem with your insurance covering you, i dont know of anyone who does a turkish lira prepaid card and if you have a sterling one then you've got to pay commission to load these which is pointless when you already have sterling tcqs. Its a tricky one as your insurance covers such a small cash amount.0
