Sainsbury's Lillies

Anyone else found the quality of Sainsbury's lillies rubbish,

My current bunch is 12 days old and the buds have yet to open, but the leaves are wilting

The last bunch "half opened" and died

The bunch before that, the same.

Why are you still buying them?

I'd have to disagree - My Hubby bought me some over 2 weeks ago - they stayed in bud for 3-4 days then flowered and still look lovely now.

I always strip the leaves off to the top of the vase and top up with water every couple of days.

The Sainsburys lillies definitely last better than any others.

Maybe it has something to do with the way your store is storing them? I'd have a word to see if they've had any other complaints.

Are you putting anything in the water to help them last longer? Apparently, a paracetamol is very good for this, as is lemonade! (So my nan used to tell me)
  • Lemonade does work as does boiling water for roses that are drooping.

Are you trimming the ends of regularly every few days?
Bleach and sugar (together) works too.

  • Ive never had any problems with Sainsburys Lillies, they seem to last for ages for me... i just use the feed that they give you and regularly change the water(well she does not me ;))

I buy them when they're half price and I'm always impressed with how long they last :p
