Help needed, freehold/leasehold problem

    Thanks Richard, I have spoken to my solicitor today who in turn has spoken to the sellers solicitor and he has mentioned a statutory declaration, so would I be right in thinking that we would own the freehold and the lease? And then in time could merge them into freehold only?

    Thanks for you reply it is very helpful as we are very worried that we would have to pull out. It's not the thought of someone turning up with the lease but the thought of putting future buyers off.
  • i bought my house as a freehold property, it is now up for sale but the searches say it is a leasehold property. i wasnt told this when i bought it. does this mean i cant sell it.

    You bought the property and presumably went through the legal requirements therefore you should be able to sell.

    As for whether it is leasehold or freehold, check your deeds, that will clarify what it is.
