Best place to invest £200 for newborn godson

I want to invest £200 for my newborn godson to receive in 18yrs. I want the fund to be seperate from the CTF set up by his parents with the Inland Revenue £250 voucher.

Apparently the stakeholder CTF can only be opened with a voucher. Can anyone recommend a stockmarket linked investement with low-charges that I can take out in his name?

Regards

I'm affraid your question requires someone to offer investment advice (this is not allowed), it's also too far ranging and depends on your attitude to risk.

Virtually all the investment houses (fund managers) offer the ability to open an invesment account "in trust". The problem is that the amount you wish to invest (£200) is likely to fall below their minimum lump sum investment. Its possible you could start a monthly savings scheme, investing £50 each month, and then stop the investments after four months.

Not sure why you want the investment to be seperate to the CTF but, one option (based on the relatively small amount) might be to place the investment alongside one of your own investments, identify the percentage split, i.e. 10%, and then when the child is 18 liquidate 10% of the investment and give the money to the child.
