Not sure whether to apply for this - I'll probably be declined due to stoozing activities and I need to be able to replace some of my current 0% deals in about three months' time so don't want to risk the credit search, but 3% is tempting!
I have about half my income stoozed at about 90% of available credit (2 new cards about 6 months ago and two older ones with follow on offers) and two 1% cards which I use for spending on with a further 15k limit but paid off each month, and have recently done a few bank a/c sign up offers and also a couple of new cashback mobile contracts and I got turned down even though my credit report has no late payments; so if yours looks anything similar it is probably not worth applying - the 3% (=100 quid extra cashback over the 1% card on the 5000pa) was so tempting but all I have probably succeded in doing by applying is making my stooze rollover in October more difficult.I think....0 -
I have just applied but it will be interesting to see if I get turned down or not. I was only "just in" on the Incapacity Benefit of Partner section. We are on Income Support with the disability/Incapacity included. Only I use credit cards, paying off each month in full. Using Tesco, Goldfish, and M& S for their points so we can have some extra food at Christmas and the occasional day out. Many people are suprised I haven't been refused due to being a dependent on Benefit. The reason are probably this: Many years ago we wanted to buy a new bicycle for our daughter for Christmas as we were so fed up of everything second hand, and thought it would be nice just for once to give her something new. I asked our bank for a £50 loan/overdraft and was turned down. I appealed which is something a lot of people don't bother to do. I put together quite a long letter explaining that I had saved half the amount, what it was for, and how much I expected to pay to clear it off pretty quickly. I was awarded the loan. As it happened we ended up not needing to use it, but it got me thinking how useful a credit card would be, especially using the interest free weeks which can be up to eight. Again, the same scenerio, got turned down, appealed with a nice long explainatory letter and was rewarded with a credit card with initial £300 limit. As you know, usually once you get one card there is usually no trouble getting more.Over the years I have had my various CC limits increased to far more than I will ever use, and with the careful eye on what's the best deal for current circumstances have been wise. i.e. use the 12 months interest free period on the Sainsbury card so we could buy some laminate to replace the carpet in the bedroom hall and kitchen. I was able to pay this back over the year so I paid no interest. As Martin says, you have to be strong willed to do this but it does work.
If anyone reading this is in a similar position, do what I did and appeal with a nice letter. As long as you pay it off every month and choose the right card you will benefit.0 -

Got my aceptance email yesterday which I'm surprised about. I always pay off any amount owing, therefore paying no interest and have no balance to transfer, so I'm not going to make them any money.
I recently finished paying off a loan with GE Money, so I'm wondering if that has stood me in good stead?0 -

Mmm, I think I'll give it a miss. My credit rating's not truly outstanding anyway for the simple reason that I've moved around a fair bit in the last few years so there's not that continuity of address that they like to see (though I have many years of continuous bank account and credit card information, and no late payments/defaults ever). As it is I think it's unlikely I'll be able to cover my whole stooze pot come November, what with four cards to cover at roughly the same time and all those unlimited fees around, unless Virgin give me a third BT!
Given we have no kids/pets to feed and no car to fuel, and we don't have a massive supermarket around to buy clothes and electrical items, our spending in the right shops probably isn't all that high compared to a lot of people's, so I'll stick with Amex cashback for now.0 -

Very possible. I too many years ago had a store card that was backed by GE so it may be on their system. Recently we have been hounded by junkmail from Egg, actually addressed to my husband. When ringing up to complain and to be asked for our details to be taken off their database, they said it was because our details were still on from years ago. When we were with them the account was with my name as the main account holder yet the junkmail was still addressed to Mr Capy!0 -
Was 'accepted' on May 19th with "PIN in the next 3 business days"
recieved the PIN today (June 1st) - guess they've been busy :-)

I applied for the 3% cashback card yesterday evening and have just received the following email.
"Congratulations!
Your application for a GE Money Credit Card has been accepted.
You are one of the first people in the UK to be accepted for this superb card offering 0% p.a. on balance transfers and new purchases for 12 months. Not only that, but you also get the great rate of 12.9% APR after your introductory offer.
Here's what happens from here:
You will receive your PIN in the next 3 business days
You will receive your new credit card under separate cover within the next 5-7 business days.
Then you'll need to make one short phone call to activate the card and you can start using it straight away.

No mention of 3% cashback. Have I been accepted for a different card?

That's the same with me too. Couldn't believe it, just had acceptance e-mail but nothing about the 3%0

There is no mention of 3% in my acceptance email. But then, unlike yours, there is no mention of 0% BT either?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0
