New to ebay - advice on packing a heavy item needed.

My son has a piece of welding equipment for sale and not sure how it needs to be packaged and posted to the buyer.
Could someone please give suggestions as to the best way of doing this?
Thanks

What is it exactly? Most carriers would refuse to take things like acetylene bottles.

Should this not have been considered before it was listed? Surely you'd need to consider packaging materials and postal costs first? If however, it has not yet been listed then why not offer it as collection only?
  • It's not been listed yet, that is why I am asking.
Collection only would probably be the best idea.

As martin said most carriers would refuse to take acetylene bottles. You may be better trying to sell it through your local Free Ads paper than ebay
  • acetylene bottles are not generlly yours to sell as they are rented from BOC or other such companys...( unless you talking of little mig welding cylinders of inert gas)
Putting items up for collection only really affects the price you can expect.
Just factor in a large cardboard box and send via parcellforce 48.
