Quick Question re Alcohol and Tunisia

Hi All,
Off to Tunisia in 5 weeks and 2 days and getting very excited. We have been advised to take some alcohol with us, as theirs is overpriced and comes in small measures!!
Anyway, what I wanted to know is how much alcohol could we take with us? Planning to buy it in the departure lounge at gatwick, probably 2 or 3 bottles of spirits and a few bottles of wine. Will that be ok to take with us or is there any restrictions?

Hi Flis21!
Your duty free limit will be 1 litre of spirits (think that's over 23% alcohol or thereabouts) and possibly some wine as well. However, you can probably take some in addition to that if you buy it from a normal shop in the UK (ie. duty paid). Not sure of Tunisia's limit but you'll probably get away with at least some over your 1 litre.
Have a nice time!

Thanks for the advice re duty free. Do you think if we buy some wine or spirits normally here and put it in our suitcase that we will be able to take that on top of our duty free allowance then?Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0

I think Big T is getting mixed up talking about Duty Free. He is quoting the limits that you can bring back into the UK (1 Litre of Spirits etc). It would be worth checking to see if you can legally bring in alcohol to Tunisa. It being a Muslim country there may be strict laws about importing booze.
Even if you can I would strongly advise not to pack any in your suitcase, the likelyhood of breakages is quite large.
I visited Tunisia about 5 years ago and had no problem purchasing alcohol. Certainly it is widely available in Hotels and restaurants. I didn't find it expensive at all really.0 -
Limits may be spookily the same - pretty sure they were into Morocco a couple of years ago. Haven't been to Tunisia, but supposed to be fairly similar - booze available in supermarkets or 'stealth' off-licenses (just look for the shop which looks least like an offy...), sprirts quite expensive, beer and wine not too bad.
In Morocco, if you bought booze anywhere they put it in black carriers (after wrapping it in newspaper!), white bags for everything else, so walk in the opposite direction to the black bags...0
