The QUOTE function is very useful to readers and writes and helps keep threads coherent.
This may have been discussed before. It may be obvious and escapes me, but from results I can see it escapes other ppl too.
How, with minimum effort to quote from two or several threads in a post?
I do it by QUOTE on a post, then copy what's in the post into WORD including the square box symbols &c. then delete box contents (maybe unnecessary) then go to the thread title displayed (can't use BACK button) then do that again for second quote etc., insert my new text and edit on the WORD document, then delete everything in the last QUOTE box and copy there from WORD, then preview & finally see what it looks like, but this seems quite elaborate and tedious. I wonder if anyone has found a more direct proceedure?

How it looks without the dubrey wotsit
Hi I think it may show up as I wrapped the quote in HTML Tags.
P.S how do you remove google pages (delete whole web)?

Not been there for a whilesra wrote:You can highlight any text and clickabove the reply box and that will surround the text in quote tags.
You can add a username by adding =username
e.g.
[QUOTE=username ]text goes here
will give -[/QUOTE]I and people like me need it more explicit. Practically keystroke by keystroke.
What I did to get above result was,
1 on first text to be quoted use QUOTE button and I get it, surrounded by suitable tags in a box under "Reply to Thread"
2 then go down to topic review, highlight the text I want to quote of 2nd poster
3 Then go up to the quote box and click the icon with a picture of a page (the one between the postcard and the #) . That has the effect of puttingtags around the desired text, and I then
4 go down to the text, highlight and COPY the desired text including the now surroundingtags. Paste that back up in the quote box.
5 then I think ah, what was the poster's username, go down to look and either remember it or copy and paste back in the box.
Is that what you meant? That's what I was doing already when the posts to reply to were all on one page, except I was copying the text alone pasting and then putting thetags around myself. Your procedure saves a bit of typing and should be less error-prone, at the cost of more upping and downing. You still have to insert the username, unlike the first quoted (otherwise you get the first to boxes above), I'd hope for an improvement.
 to do this more automatically I tried to highlight an entire quote including the username in the left-hand column, which gave this:QuincyQuote:

However this is all for a 1-page thread (or when all the ones you want to quote are on the same page), I'm not sure I see what you would do if you want quotes from 2 or 3 different pages of a thread?
I will be reasonable and not ask for quoting from 2 threads, but more than 1 page from a thread is certainly often needed.Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.0 -
An alternative way to do multiple quotes - if this is any easier.
Go a post you want to quote and hold down Shift as you click thebutton.
This will open the reply box in a new window. You can do this several times with several different posts if you wish.
Then all you have to do is copy the text from the different windows into a single reply box0 -

Ah brill! - well at least you jogged my mind - I was sure it must be quite simple and obvious and I would get it eventually. I click the first quote button; before going to the next quote I copy the existing quote box and post it into the next. That pretty well solves both problems as u can see above.
Thank you.
Maybe that was not what you meant? I was unable to see any difference between what happens whether or not you press Shift along with Quote, I don't see multiple boxes coming up or anything like thatSorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.0 -
