Barclays mis-selling

Briefly:
My sister-in-law lives on DLA (disability) of about £142 per month. Barclays sold her a £6,800 loan and set repayments at £190 per month. They also sold her payment protection, which surely would be of no use to somebody on long-term disability?
She believes that my brothers DLA income was also taken into account when setting the repayments even though the loan is in her sole name.
They struggled to keep up with the loan for over a year before missing a payment.
Barclays have been looking into the mis-selling claim for months now, I've had no experience of loans and ppi myself and would welcome any opinions on the matter.
Many thanks

Hello there
This does seem to have been mis sold, so I would definate write to complain and ask they they refund all the PPI and interest etc.
With the reasons as you have stated below, you need to write to them by giving them 8 weeks in full to respond.
If they do not uphold in your favour, then you can go to the financial ombudsman service (FOS), where they should enclose these details by the final decision.
Post by recorded delivery as well for your proof of posting.
More on the link below, a checklist and template letters, do no worry about writing the amounts at this time, and check the checklist in case there are further reasons to write.

Good luck with this and ask for help when required.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Most insurances only rule out cover relating to the area of disability. If its not health related then in many cases, virtually full cover can be offered.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
