Calls at £6 per minute on my BT bill

Our call charges on our BT line are usually just a few punds each quarter. I've often thought about just cancelling the line and now I wish I had.
My last bill had 3 calls that cam to a total of £197 - £6 per minute. I spent about an hour last night speaking to BT's call centre, and even though the guy was really understanding etc, he coudn't tell me any more than these were operator calls made from my phone.
I have asked them to provide more detail on the calls, ie which country were the calls palced to, was this a bill directly from BT or was it a bill recieved from another phone operator.
I suspect they will not be able to give me any more detail and so I am wondering what my mext steps should be (apart from cancelling my BT line of course). Is this going to be a fight with BT or do I need to write to Ofcom etc?
Hope someone out there has been through this and knows the best way to deal with it!

Don't take this the wrong way but is there something you're not saying about this?
Operator connected calls are very unusual these days and, perhaps, you have a problem with 'someone' circumventing some sort of call bar in that way.
Alternatively, do you have a cleaner from a foreign land who might have been left on their own in the house for example?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Hi, I had a problem with BT which eventually ended up at the Chairmans office in London, my problem was that at one point in 2008 I had supposedly made 233 calls to mobile numbers even though I have call barring on my line and at my request no pin was ever sent to me to take it off . I was told over and over again during this time, from bt call centres that from September 2008 to Dec 2008 that I had made the calls to mobile numbers as they had shown up on my bill, I explained over and over again that there is no way that the calls could have been made as I have call barring and requested that the pin to remove this was not to be sent to me which it wasnt. In the end I asked BT to send me a letter stating that all calls that I had supposedly made had been made from my address so that I could inorm the police, as the only way calls could have been made was by someone breaking in my home, a letter that I never received, anyway to cut it short early Dec I received a telephone call from the chairmans office stating that the calls that I had complained about were to be took from my bill, I asked why the calls had appeared on my bill and was told nothing, I also asked for it to be put in writing why the calls had appeared on my bill and why now after 3 months of on going complaints had they decided to remove the calls and again no response, and no letter. However on line my bill which I had disputed remains the same, the calls to mobiles still there, just a note in the payment section showing a payment that had been made against my bill but does not state from where of from whom, so now it appears that I never complained about my bill, it has been paid by me or so it appears on line, and it all never happened, I would just like to say to all bt customers out there, if your bill seems high, check it again and again, if my bill can have over 200 calls on it that were never made it makes me wonder who else they have done it to. I am still waiting for some sort of explanation as to why these calls to mobiles appeared on my bill, but it doesnt appear to be forthcoming. Good luck with your problem, they did sort mine eventually, they have just never explained as to why the calls were on my bill in the first place, the chairmans contact address is
