What would mark a granite worktop?

That was actually going to be my next question Fay, the difference between marble and granite. I always remember the old marble topped wash stands and fireplaces got very marked over the years (I used to deal in second hand furniture, I'm not THAT old!)0

Quite a lotMarble is a metamorphic rock (limestone that's been subject to heat and pressure). It it, therefore, vulnerable to acids. It's calcium carbonate, for anyone who's interested
Granite is an igneous rock, and is unlikely to be attacked by commonly available acids. Hydrofluoric acid might damage it, but it'll do far more to your lady's skin and bones than her work surface

Drat. I think she might have to chip it, but I didn't want anything as drastic as that.0

Couldn't it be fitted and just not be quite the right shade to match her tea towels or nail varnishFor some of the houseproud people I know, that would be enought for a nervous breakdown :rotfl:

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
What about something like gloss paint getting on it, or superglue, or Nitromore? Or she could slip and fall (getting chocolate off the top of the wall cupboards) and score the worksurface with one of her humungous diamond rings?Val.0

I have a friend who owns a marble and granite works and they had one person who asked them to come out as the granite was'nt quite matching on the work tops.
When they went out to inspect it they said they could'nt find anything wrong with it,"oh" said the woman "you only notice it when your'e bending over and at a certain angle.
Talk about fussy.0
