Does BT count as payment?

I have recently done BT from Tesco to my new Barclaycard. It took a couple of days instead of the two weeks I was expecting, so it has appeared on my BC statement that was prepared two days later.

The money was credited to my Tesco account between statement date and payment due date. My question is whether this counts as a payment received or whether I would still need to make the minimum payment indicated on the statement? There is still an account balance but I would rather put the money towards a higher rate card this month.

I can't find anything in T&C, so would be grateful for any help.

I've done this though not with the cards you mention. It wasn't a problem.

Unless specifically excluded from the T&Cs - and you can't see anything - I can't see why not. Afterall you are arranging a payment to be made.

(Thinking about it - if you cleared the entire balance using a BT and it didn't count as a minimum repayment, would you then be forced to put the account into credit in order to meet the repayment requirement?)

If nobody answers in respect of Barclaycard, perhaps you should ring them up to make sure.

    Yes, it does.

FWIW, I doubt whether Tesco can distinguish BACS payments made by other card companies from those of their customers ;)
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.
