Mortgage Protection

we have a Mortgage Protection Policy which we have already claimed on once for a previous illness some time ago (it was very complex and drawn out claim procedure) which meant my husband was unable to work. They paid out for a year. (Max in one claim). He has many other health problems now and has been signed off and is now on Incapacity Benefit. Apparently we can claim mortgage protection again as there are different health issues, but as he has already been signed off by the Dr for the IB he cannot be signed off again for the mortgage protection claim. I am paying £60 a month for the policy and can't afford to keep paying it if we cannot use it, but I am fearful of cancelling it in case there is a way round it. If he cancels his IB it will be difficult to start it up again. Money is tight so I could do without paying for it if totally useless.

Why not? Have you been told that by the insurer?
Normally, you put a claim into the insurer and the insurer will contact the GP to verify the information. What the GP has done in respect of incapacity benefit will not have an effect on what the insurance company need to know.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thank you, but Insurance Company needed verification of him being signed off at the last claim and he is already signed off for the Incapacity Benefit, so technically cannot be signed off twice if we decide to claim again, which we would like to as we are paying for the cover.0
