Exactly
And since they haven't actually made a product, or improved anybody's quality of life, where has that £100m come from? The tenants who have been screwed for as much as the Wilsons could get out of them, and the FTBs in the area who've had to pay over the odds (thus increasing HPI even further) because the Wilsons had distorted the market. So the size of the Wilsons' success doesn't endear them to most people.
To be fair Lydia, there are quite a few businesses out there that don't make a product or improve anyone's quality of life and still make millions, but no one really seems to mind them as much.
Any the 'improve anyone's quality of life' statement is slightly subjective anyway. Presumably if this rather unpleasant man had a property on the market to let, someone looked round, decided that the price and the property appealed to them and decided to rent it. You could conclude from that they paid for a service they wanted from that business.
Look, he seems a wholly unpleasant, thick and repellent man. I think he's got rich through luck rather than judgement and seems to treat tenants (and people in general) with contempt. So there are two quite valid reasons to dislike him and consider him a vile individual.
I guess what amuses me slightly on here is the vitriol people on here have for him when they probably have money invested, or use businesses, products and services, that are guilty of far bigger crimes. In some ways if you drink a can of Coca Cola you're giving over your money to a far more evil business that the one this guy has. At least he's not gunning down union workers in Mexico or killing villagers through polluted water supplies. But I guess if you want a cheap house then he is a more appropriate and easier hate figure than a faceless company. He is in enough finiancial dodo with out shooting himself in the foot.
I'd be quite happy with people calling me a financial dodo if I'd made tens of millions in ten or so years. Hopefully I would have done it in a nicer, more valid way, but still...0 -
Theres quite a few distasteful pictures out there of these pair, purely because of their sense of fashion. However, I have to say, for me, this has got to be the most distasteful of all!!
Though could be a well used photo somewhere down the line if the wilsons don't offload soon!0 -

You're right, of course, Cleaver. Thank you for putting it so clearly.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Probably because they don't gloat about it at every available opportunity. The picture I posted above says it all.
They have become so famous because of their gloating, and their "look at me, point the camera at me, me, me, I'm worth x millions don;t you know".
There are property investors out there worth 100 times what they are worth. The difference is, they don't tell you at every opportunity they are given just how much they are worth.
The hate the wilsons recieve is merely due to how they percieve themselves....
Dragons Den....Alan Sugar. You know they are succesful, you know they are rich. But they are liked. I have never once seen them gloating at every opporunity about their wealth. Sure, they say they are succesful, and how they did it. But you won't see smarmy pictures as per the above with them grinning for the camera reading their own rich list entry.0 -

Graham, we've had this conversation. I know, they are unpleasant people. We're in agreement. They gloat, boast and are generally vulgar.
But as I've also said before, there are hundreds of businesses who have far more evil practices than them. If you have a general problem with businesses that are unpleasant, immoral and have general bad practice towards their customers and society in general (and if you have, good for you) then there's a list of companies as long as your arm that are more appropriate targets that a couple of smug b*stards who rent out a few hundred houses.
For the record, I could happily punch Peter Jones in the face repeatedly. He's never off my radio or TV advertising one product or another, normally with the 'I'm in' catchphrase. Alan Sugar is a smug t*sser too.Alan Sugar... I have never once seen them gloating at every opporunity about their wealth.
Honestly Graham, I wonder if you're on a different planet half the time.0 -

Sorry there are a lot of people who hate Alan Sugar. The two main groups are Tottenham fans and historic Amstrad users. Being part of both groups he ranks high in my dislike list.
Back to fegus and Juddith, you think with all that socalled money they could hire these two.
Thats if they are not to highly geared :rotfl::exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.
