Trying to find an insurer that would put my son on my insurance as a occasional driver on a Golf GTI cabriolet. Does qualify for classic insurance as it is 15 years old. I`ve tied Carol Nash and Firebond. OH bought the car to do up and sell on but son who is 21 would like to drive it at weekends.

Herts Insurance (HIC) are good for performance VW's & young drivers. Elephant are often OK as long as the car isn't modified in any way (including non-standard wheels - fairly common on old GTI's). As for classic policies, I'd try Lancaster.

I'm afraid you'll have to google for phone numbers.

I'd second either adrian flux or elephant as being well worth a go for young drivers with fast cars.
if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.
