Railway tickets on ebay

We have some advance purchase railway tickets for half term that we now can't use, or get refunded. They cost less than the excess on our travel insurance, so there's no point making a claim.

Is it legal/worth the effort to try to resell them on ebay?

I am sure that it is against the terms and conditions of tickets which are usually not transferable. However unless they were bought with a railcard of some kind (that would have to be shown to ticket collectors) they could be used by someone else.

No idea of Ebay's attitude to this. Might be better to try to sell them on Gumtree or something else for local pickup for cash.
