Recently sold two cars on autotrader and bought two. It all works very well, despite repeated phone calls from car-matching services who need to work out a new scam. To be fair to Auto Trader, there are lots of warnings about scams, but I don't think they do enough to prevent it. The car scams stick out a mile, but Auto Trader complacently lets these scammers use their services to advertise. Typically, a scammer will grossly underprice a car and only respond to e-mails. Surely Auto Trader could have some kind of check on its database say for any car that is 25% below value for no obvious reason (e.g. damage or very high mileage) is queried with a call or e-mail. There are at least 20 scammed cars on there currently. I can spot them, why can't they?

If a car is massivley underpriced then alarm bells should start ringing for even the most naive car buyer.0
