can i claim IS if i get sacked....

I am 23 weeks pregnant and being threatened with the sack from my employers....I am also a single mum to 2 children.
Now if I do get sacked, can I claim Income Support straight away? Or will it be Maternity Allowance I need to claim? Obviously no employer is going to take me on while pregnant and only6 weeks from when I can start Maternity Leave.

2010 resolutions

You can not start MA until you are 29 weeks pregnant.0 -
I have a 5 year old and a disbaled 7 year old.

Tax Credits and Disability Living Allowance are not affected by Maternity Allowance.
But while you're getting Maternity Allowance and any of the following benefits - they may be reduced or stopped:- Employment and Support Allowance
- Carer's Allowance
- Bereavement Benefits
- Income Support
- Jobseeker's Allowance will stop
