Just a quickie...surely it would be better for him to take the 0% on 2k than pay 14.9% on 2k?? Can see why he might not have wanted to break up the debt, but it's money saved surely?

Sorry...will look at this more when I get back..am off out in a mo but have been lured back on here!! :)

This will sound nasty but it seems you have a teenager more than a boyfriend. At the end of the day if you love him and want to stay with him help him out (not financially!).

At the end of the day do what's best for you but they're not your debts.

    Edited for speeling.

If he is a civil servant, bankruptcy is not an option as he will lose his job. (I'm a civil servant too and this is what Payplan told me). I've just checked my statement of income and expenditure that I have with them. Although there is no allowance made for birthdays, Christmas etc, Payplan can be quite creative. For example, I am allowed £100 per month to support my daughter at uni. She doesn't need all this amount, so I use some of it for birthdays etc. I'm given an allowance for housekeeping (food etc) which is generous, so use some of that for going out occasionally. I found them to be very helpful, they want you to succeed and so will help produce a budget which works for you.

I hope you dont take this too personally, but at the end of the day, if hes worried that various things are luxuries, thats because they are. You dont need sky, or mobiles or magazines.

Badger, do you think his lightbulb is on, so to speak? Only if its not, maybe this whole episode is going to fail. He needs to want to get out of debt too, cccs or payplan can only do so much, the rest is down to him. Do you think he wants it badly enough?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
