Double Yellow Line Fine

I live in scotland, And i have been given a ticket for parking on a broken Yellow Line, I had noticed alot of people do this on a daily basis so i thought it was ok as i had been told as it was broken i could not be given a ticket. It is broken by at least a car length this was due to road works, they have failed to re paint the road.

So I wrote away to appeal but received a reply (as below) can anyone tell me if i can appeal again?

: The area where i was parked was governed by double yellow lines and road kerb markings.

: Even though the road markings required refurbishment, the issuing parking attendants notes confirm the markings were visable behind the car.

As there was not Time Plate at the area my car was observed by the attendant for 14 minutes to ensure there was no loading and was defently parked here.

I have no way to attach the full letter of photo's onto this website to show this is incorrect.

can any one help me?

The forum at pepipoo can help with good advice, if you can get photos of any signs and the broken lines/gaps/ends, and pics of the front and back of the PCN. Sometimes the wording on the PCN can be challenged more successfully than lines and bay markings alone. Do you not have a digital camera or a scanner?

Here's the link to the pepipoo forums, register and post a new thread but only when you've got pics as they may not be able to help on something so vague (sorry!):

Read the sticky first that says 'read this first, inc FAQs', that will tell you how to host any pics you can get on tinypic.

Or at the very least, can you find and post a link here (and/or on pepipoo) to the place on Google Street View, showing the broken d y lines? Also post which LA in Scotland issued the ticket?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Only areas that are LA tickets in Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and South Lanarkshire. I believe the rest are police enforced.

Thanks, I didn't know that but it narrows it down a little then as the OP refers to a 'parking attendant'.

Just need more info from the OP tina cameron, on here and/or on pepipoo in order for someone to help.

FWIW Double yellow lines do not need a time plate as they run all the time*. The just need a small no loading plate for the double kerb markings (although I don't know why since double kerb markings are the same as double yellows)

    * There is an exception for when it is a season restriction, but that is rare. Many authorities also still put them up.
  • Ok well my letter stated they didn't have a no loading sign so the Parking attendant stood by my car for 14 minutes to confirm it was parked and not loading.
