Sky - blatantly lying to people in flats

Grr.

I received a letter from Sky saying "Fortunately, your flat is already fitted with a communal satellite system come and sign up blah blah" etc which I thought was odd as I've been trying to get fellow leaseholders to join me in getting Sky (if 4 of us do it we get it installed for free).

So, I walk around the building thinking "hmm maybe someone's grabbed the bull by the horns and organised/paid for it himself" but I can see no dish.

Phone up Sky, get through to the noisiest call centre in the world, and the droid on the end of the line seems to know about this latest marketing trick and puts me through to a local independent installer who can come out and do a survey. Obviously it's a complete waste of time, as I have no authority to commit to any work, so I apologise to them and tell them I'll whinge on the internet about Sky (hence why I'm here) and hang up.

So, why Sky, send me the bloody lying letter saying we already have a system installed?!

If it was installed I'd pay £60 a month no bother, as I'd like HD telly and unlimited broadband etc but there's a big tree in the garden blocking the line of sight from my indoor minidish (which I successfully used for years despite people saying it wasn't possible)

Grr thanks for wasting my time Sky!

  • The communal satellite system is fitted on the very top of the flat and fed down through the wires which is a much better system for flats than having a dish hanging outside making the flat even more ugly to look at. The people you want to ask if you do have this system or not is your housing not sky and also get written proof if you have not got one as then you can prove to sky you do not have one installed in which case they will edit the records.

Btw I know this because I do live in a flat that had a communal satellite system installed just a few weeks ago.
