I have to say that it's rather unfortunate that you got someone same name and DOB who just happened to owe debts! She had to change her name by deed poll. I suspect this is rather more common than people think.
Has anyone been in a similar situation, and care to share experiences dealing with DCA' and CRA's?

But surely changing her name will not make any difference.
Otherwise what stops me from getting into £1000s of debt and then changing my name. The credit file will just reflect that you have now changed your name.
Until she gets the credit reference agencies to change the mistake she will still get hounded.0 -
It sounds as though this poor woman has gone about things entirely the wrong way. She didn't need to change her name or see a solicitor.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

I am sure just reporting the details and providing proof to the credit agencies would have got the details removed from her credit file. Certainly changing her name would have no benefit at all.0

This has happened to me. The CRA's completed a notice of dissassociation form which has removed the adverse from my file. I still get periodic contact from the DCA's.Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
