I have also heard this is a great product, but for those who don't know, the new Microsoft Security Essentials has very good independent reports and write-ups and is supposed to offer very good anti-virus protection and costs nothing - not as full a toolset as this suite from Kapersky, though. Not trying to get a techie discussion going on this board, but just pointing out there's a new freebie on the block. (I am sure it's entirely irrelevant to all on here to say this, but your PC must run genuine Windows to install the MS product.)

In addition:-This is baseline security i.e. better than nothing at all. Not as comprehensive as Kaspersky (or ESET/Nod32 for that matter), but in these credit crunch times it's free!

Personally, I'd go for Kaspersky - been using it for 2 years now and it's found everthing (I do use other scanners to check too!).

    Just my 2p worth...:-)

I got McAfee Internet Security 2010 3-user on Amazon a couple of days ago for £21.97. Really good value. I've used it for a few years now with no problems. Norton messed up my computer a few times... especially if you use "restore".

please could someone help me out here? :o

I've had the 2009 version since last yr and expires today, so I went along to the website and downloaded the 'upgrade to 2010' file and when I tried to install it, it told me to uninstall the old version, which I did. but now its asking me for an activation code? do I use the activation code from my 2009 one or am I stuck with the 30 days trial and have to buy the full version after? not quite a free upgrade if it only lasts for 30days?

I've got my laptop to sort out as well as I bought the 3 user version, so would really appreciate if someone less clueless than me (probably most people :rotfl:) could solve my puzzle :o thanks in advance!

You can use your activation code from 2009 however if it expires today it's a wast of time. You'd be better off using the 30 day trial and then buy it cheaper from elsewhere. Amazon are selling it for £23.99 at the moment.

I updated to 2010 and then was asked to activate, which I did with my 2009 copy but I still got the message runs out in 10 days, I bought a 2009 3 user off ebay for £11 and then put the new activation code in, much cheaper than renewing licence with Kaspersky.
