Tiling help

If it's an electric shower, you need to fit the require pipe and cable, then tile then fit the shower unit on the tiles.
Remember you will need to make sure the electrics are certified, to the correct specification and connected to an RCD.
If it's not electric tell me exactly what you have and give specific instructions.0 -

The pipe sticking through the wall must be from the mains, check to see that's its in the right place for your new shower unit. If it isn't get it altered before the tiling is done.
If it's a new build you'll have a consumer unit with a built in RCD, somewhere on that consumer unit will be a trip switch which is for the shower only, it's likely to be 45amp or 50amp, that's what the ceiling switch is connected to.
make sure that's all ok, (ie you have what I've just explained) then it's an easy swap for you.0 -
hi.. the pipes in the right place.. im lost with the rcd thing - where is this consumer unit? what i want to find out is if theres an electric connection behind the wall that i need to bring out (in the same way that the pipe is already sticking out) or something to connect to the shower.. cos am wondering how will they connect the shower to any electricity if theres no cable? ur help is appreciated..0

If you have an electric shower now, the supply will be in place.
The consumer unit:
If your lights go out, where is the box that you go to to flick the switch back on so the lights work again? That's the consumer unit, modern name for the fuse box.
It's usually in one of the following places - front hall, garage, under the stairs, utility room or ocassionally the kitchen.0 -
hi
i dont have a shower now.. just a sealed off pipe sticking out the wall, hence why im wondering where the electric wiring will be/ go.. sorry for the repeated questions!
thanks0 -
Ahh, Ok. But you have a ceiling mounted pull cord?
Does the light come on when you pull the cord? If it does that tells you that power exists up to that point. Then it's a case of hunting for the wire, if the shower's been removed and pipe just left capped it's highly likely the cable was just pulled back into the loft rather than isolated properly.
Have a hunt around and see what you find.0 -
cheers.. ill go up in the loft and find out where that cable from the pull cord leads to.. presumably if i find it i have to get it to appear at its other end where the capped off pipe is. hmm... thanks again for all the help..0
