I would have thought so, that's how you fill up most radiators nowadays, via the espansion tank.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

If you have a small hole in your radiator then it might help for a few weeks before it starts leaking again. Otherwise, the best thing to do is replace the radiator.
  • I wouldn't use it as a permanent fix. I steer clear of it as i've seen it cause more harm than good.

But saying that i know of people who have used it and not had any further problems.. still not something i'd risk personally! better to use it as a temporary thing and get it fixed properly!

We had quite a bad leak in the radiator a couple of months ago, blocked it up with Radweld and it's still working.

We have a 14 year old Punto that'll be going to the scrapyard soon so it wasn't worth spending on a new radiator, but I wouldn't use Radweld in a newer car that I planned to keep because apparently it can cause blockages and therefore more problems. It's a temporary fix at best.

your car seems a bit new to be doing poor temporary repairs like this to it. get the leak fixed properly. radweld can cause coolant blockages on certain styles of engine. the toyota mr2 was a perfect example of that.
    ...work permit granted!
  • radweld can break off after time and cause bloackages in cooling system and also break the water pump impeller, best spend the money get a new radaitor or even one from a breakers yard. steer clear of what look like cheap fixes as they can be too good too be true!!
  • I see so many people "fixing" their cars with Radweld and then coming to us with blocker heater matrix etc... And costing ten times the price of a new rad to put right...

Radweld is a good idea if you own a old car that is not worth a expensive new radiator . i have used it many times on bangers that were approaching the end of their life . it is also okay in a emergency situation

    however on a 55 plate i would get a new radiator .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
