All you need to do is set up a direct debit for the minimum payment, and make extra payments as and when you can afford to, and you never have to worry about being late or being charged ever again.
That, and you can check your statements on line Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48 Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Only if you let them!...lots of money for them again banks win and win again
It's 2009 for goodness sake! What on earth are you doing writing cheques?! (assuming you are of course? If not then why wait for the statement to arrive? Get online and check it there).
As per izools suggestion, take out an insurance policy in the form of a minimum payment direct debit, and then pay any extra by:
 Telephone banking
 Online banking
Debit card on the Virgin (MBNA) website
 Debit card over the phone
...and if you fancy some exercise you can even walk the statement/BGC slip to your bank and pay there.
There really is no reason to use a cheque, or wait for a posted statement, in this day and age, and especially with our postal system the way it is!0

            Easier said than done.
I have completed DDMs for the minimum payment twice so far for my new balance transfer. (you cannot do it online so have to request one by post).
 16/09 FULL BALANCE ATTEMPTED!.
cue complaint letter asking for refund of charges( £49.00), monthly payment made and new ddm sent off.
Letter recieved saying respaonce by 20/10
 16/10 FULL BALANCE attempted AGAIN!!!!
Once again I have made a seperate online payment but those charges will be slapped on again any day now.
What a palaver! (BTW its all in hubbys name so calling during office hours is not possible, got to rely on post as they have no live online banking help set-up like live chat)0

 1. Why not go through a dummy application with some made up details and find out? What does it matter anyway?kindofaverage wrote: »hi all - a few questions to ask please about this cc.

 2. They did me.
 3. Yes, normally MBNA give some of the better limits.
 4. Wouldn't bother with MBNA, since they underwrite the Virgin card.0

It's been a while since I used my Virgin cards, but doesn't the statement show how much will be taken by DD? ie "your minimum payment of £xx.xx will be taken from your nominated account on xx/xx/09" or "your full payment of £x,xxx.xx will be taken from your nominated account on xx/xx/09"?yummymummy888888 wrote: »Easier said than done.

If so, checking the statement when it arrives will give you plenty of time to contact them and cancel it won't it?
I agree a formal complaint is the way to go now, but maybe something to think about for the future?0

It's still the same case YB, it tells you on the statement when the next dd will be taken. Could you not get the 0% no fee balance transfer offer then? Or too many MBNA cards:)0

Didn't go for it as had well over £20K of available credit across 2 existing Virgin cards (one of them being Virgin Money), over twice my salary in available credit, and stoozing around 60-70% of my salary at the time.Could you not get the 0% no fee balance transfer offer then? Or too many MBNA cards:)
The odds were slightly stacked against me! 0 0

Yeah, let's face it, in this day and age, there's plenty of other ways to pay other than cheque....0
