                                  in Credit cards

I received a mailout from A&L offering the Santader Zero card , with a no fee balance transfer. I sent off the application, but did not get a reply. I phoned the number I had been given, and got throught to Abbey. They said they had no record of my application, and needed to call A&L. They gave me a number to call, but this got me through to MBNA. They gave me another number that got me through to a company dealing with the standard A&L credit card applications, who could not help with the no fee balance transfer offer. They gave me another number, supposedly for A&L, but I ran out of time, and have not called them yet.
Has anyone else had problems with their application? And is it me, or has A&L's customer service really gone down hill recently?

I had an offer letter but it had to be in before 30th September as I still have the letter, the letter said guaranteed, my card came along maybe 3 weeks later. I applied for a Santander Zero card in August
Received a reply at the end of August saying my application had been declined on credit grounds and given an address where I could send an appeal.
This I did the following day as I have a perfect credit rating and was concerned that Abbey/Santander could adversely affect this.
No reply to date so rang Abbey yesterday to try for a contact number or e-mail address for the appeals department.
Apparently not even Abbey can get in touch with these people and I was told to send another letter.
All I can think of is that as I have no debts, have a card with A & L which is paid in full every month I am not the sort of profitable customer they want
 Anyone else had these problems?0
