  • Thanks for the link Diva - I missed this. A bit confused though as it's supposed to be opposite Corrie, but Corrie is not on on a Wednesday?

I saw this & found it fascinating although it had abosolutley no 'use' what so ever! Mind you I love programmes like 'How is made' & similar...

Have to say tho I was just a tiny bit disappointed that the coffee contraption didnt explode (not that I would wish lovely Jimmy any harm). Now that would have been good telly - would have given a whole new meaning to 'How not to cook' lol
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

well, it was a good thing to watch while sewing and while dinner cooked ;).

I was really interested in the sugar bit, as he said 'find out how it gets so white'. BUT i use 'unrefined sugar' as it is apparently better for you and less processed and it does have more flavour so i use less of it. BUT he didnt explain how that is made at all. after Jimmy's halfharted explanation, my synical OH said they probably add caramel colour to the white stuff!

I wanted to watch this too! So on conclusion rather underwhelming? I had hoped it would show what rubbish goes into breakfast cereal. I made granola and am about to run out so will be making more soon. I much prefer knowing whats in my food where possible.

Totally agree with you. There are so many products that even us 'oldstylers' use every day that we really dont have a clue how they are really produced.

Last night I learnt quite a lot for example

-how sugar is actually produced and whitened
-how a simple food such as cornflakes have so much removed from the corn and then have to have vitamins added to then to make them 'healthy'
-how much milk one cow can produce a day and how some cows produce better milk if they are less stressed.
    etc etc

Like most people I have some idea of how a lot of my food is made, but I am really not sure about the exact methods used (what is added or taken out) To be honest I have never really wanted to find out, but now I do! So will be watching and hopefully learning a bit more in next weeks programme!

Anybody know how the following are really made:confused:
    pasta
    cheddar
    SR flour
    yeast
    weetabix
    rice krispies
    stock cubes
    coca cola
    malt vinegar?
