Good parcel service?

Hello All
I need to find a good parcel service to ship some items that Royal Mail won't send. Plus I'd like to have another choice than just going to the post office.
One item I will be sending is a bow that is over 6ft in length so it's light but too long for some places. I also need to send a much heavier 4ft item to Europe.
Can anyone recommend a service to use that can handle items like these without charging a fortune or breaking/losing anything?
Any adivice or suggestions would be great
Thanks

speaking as a former courrier of many years (several different companies) - no. They'll all treat them like garbage!
shop around using the interweb. Try:
UPS
FedEx
DHL
Business Post
TNT

I would recommend Parcelflash.....but don't use Parcels2go....they won't turn up to collect it on the day agreed & I'm still waiting for my refund!0

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll work my way through the list.
Cheers

Totally agree about parcel2go - everytime I have had problems (6 or 7) and then no response to my complaints.
I persevered due to their price and when they did collect the item they were fast at delivering, but too many wasted days waiting for themIf at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0 -
I take all parcels over 2Kg to staples, they charge £8 for any item upto 30Kg and up to 4Ft, and they will refund if DHL do not deliver on time, i have had 3 refunds in the last month, item took three days instead of 2. Parcels must be taken to staples before 14:00 for same day dispatch.Regards

chiefmissile - how do you get a refund? I took my parcel to Staples on the 22nd of Dec (and stated guaranteed christmas delivery on my auction - doh!!) and they delivered it on the 29th of Dec. Buyer was not happy and when I rang them they said they'd ring me back - that was about 7 days ago!
Thanks!0 -
see the duty manager and explain your problem, and present your receipt, he should give you a refund, any problems get him to phone Staples Portsmouth and ask to speak to Ben, he is the guy that refunds me.Regards
