I have a confession, I think i'm in love with tupperware!!!! Just looking through the ikea catalogues and watching some Auzzie food shows and seeing the neat matching tupperware organised in the fridges/cupboard and draws I just sit in awe! Well now i'm on my o/s journey I think I should be able to have some as all this cooking from scratch means organisation is key right???

My name is seraphina and I am a lock'n'lock addict!:o Can't put leftovers in the fridge without putting them in a nice box first - although for freezing stuff I have been known to <gasp> use old takeaway containers.
I can't resist putting things away like that. Although whenever I watch Nigel Slater I imagine some poor junior researcher taking the ingredients out of their normal packaging and wrapping them up artfully in unbleached waxed paper:rotfl:0 -
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!!!! My dear hubby thinks I'm a bit loopy! When we sorted the kitchen last weekend, he couldn't believe I was putting the tupperware boxes that didn't match into a freegle bag we've made full of kitchen stuff. Everything has to match and look uniformed, I just can't help it!0

Actually I've been invited to a tupperware party on the 28th. My friend who's hosting it, is giving the proceeds to the Cancer Fund so I can happily justify all purchases are going to a worthy cause.
It's amazing stuff and I've got things I bought 25 years ago still like brand new.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
When I was young my school chum's mum was a tupperware lady and we got loads and loads of freebees. She asked me 35 years ago what I wanted for a wedding present and I said some tupperware - she gave me loads and I still have it today. It seems to last forever. I also have a shelf of the lock and lock from lakeland and it is not nearly so good. The charity shops always seem to have loads of tupperware.0

The Tupperware lettuce saver is one of the best inventions ever. It keeps a lettuce fresh for ages. The cheese dish is also especially good.0

I too have some Tuppaware from the 1970s,one long green box with a white lid fits into my fridge widthways across the top shelf, and in it in water, I put all my potato's that I have peeled for the week.I change the water daily, and use as required.that way I only have to peel spuds once a week (not my favorite job) I have used this box daily since around 1972 and its still in perfect condition. I too like the lock & lock boxes, but buy them in John Lewis as a treat now and again, and have amassed quite a collection. A bit dearer I know but not a lot more and they stack beautifully .I have a stash that I used yesterday when I did some baking,(only trouble is when I give some cakes to DD's it takes ages to get my L&L boxes back) and also use them for storing my flour, sugar, lentils rice ect.I like to get rid of the excess packaging from my shopping as soon as I can to recycling.I alos have a stack of smaller boxes that I use in the fridge for left over bits.a large tins of baked beans for example is too much for me as a singleton, but half stored in my fridge for another day means I don't have to buy the expensive smaller tins.
I sound a bit sad I know, but I like to be organised.0 -
During the 70's my mother seemed to go to a Tupperware party at least once a month, our house was full of the stuff, most of it orange!
I've just had a quick look at the catalogue online, they've got some lovely stuff but it's quite expensive.
It does seem to last for years though, and the imitation stuff doesn't come near the genuine Tupperware.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

We had loads and loads of tupperware in our house when I was growing up, orange, green etc and I only wish I had taken up my mums offer of it when I left home, now I am kicking myself and gradually building up my own collection.
You can pick up some tupperware bargains on ebay, there's always loads and although some seem to have a high starting price and is already 20 years old, we all know how tupperware lasts forever! Shame about the postal strickes thou, will have to wait until dispute is settled before bidding for some more.0
