But surely that is a problem for the " boss " not the employee, unless of course they are employed specifically to drive a vehicle.
I drive both Auto's and Manuals ( not at the same time

not really, they just get someone else to drive it making the person without a manual licence redundant. you dont see many automatic transits....work permit granted!0 -

It's difficult to tell them apart from the outside, but they do exist (at least in used form)

i know they do exist, but they are special order. my dad sees almost every brand new transit that comes into scotland and doesnt see many autos.
my company shares with a van dealer who again, doesnt get many autos in.
i would hazard a guess at the tourneo being popular in auto though....work permit granted!0 -

I didn't bother learning to drive until I was over 40. My first lesson was in a manual. I was taken to a large car park on the outskirts of town. I was having a terrible time with the gears and clutch. I didn't even finish the lesson. The instructor suggested I try an automatic for a lesson to see how I got on with that.
The instructor for the automatic car was someone that was in the year below me at school (knowing him from the past did help me rather than driving with a stranger). He didn't believe in driving about car parks so it was straight out onto the roads with him. I passed my test at the second attempt and when I'd bought a car took a few more lessons with him on the motorway. This is a whole new ball game and I think a few hours with an instructor should be compulsary before being allowed out on them alone.
I may drive in an automatic but I'm probably a lot safer than most people that drive as I don't have the arrogance that will be the cause of most accidents.
Lessons are slightly dearer - I was told the reason being it takes fewer lessons in an automatic to pass a test rather than a shortage of instructors.
I have no desire to learn how to drive a manual car. I don't need to.AT 1st SEPTEMBER 2009

Sounds a bit dodgy! I'd buy it if they'd said there are less instructors with automatic cars, and demand is less hence they can get away with charging a little bit more!0 -
I agree!:TPhantom_Flan_Flinger wrote: »Learning will be easier in an automatic, but I thought the rule used to be that if you passed in an automatic, you wouldn't be entitled to drive a manual.
