Query re paypal/ebay

I sold an item on ebay and specified I did not want payment in paypal.

The buyer ignored/did not notice and has paid by paypal- which I have not as yet accepted

Now he says he will pay in another way once he gets his money back from Paypal.

Is it as simple as me rejecting the paypal payment or by rejecting it do I cancel the whole transaction which I do not wish to do?

Rejecting the Paypal payment won't cancel your ebay sale and the status in 'my ebay' will go back to unpaid.

Well said.

In the future, you can remove the paypal payment from your listing....just check the tick boxes before you list the item.;)

How soon will the buyer be able to get his money back and thus pay me another way?

The refund will show instantly on his Paypal account (and he will get an e-mail to confirm) but it will then take a few days to reach his debit/credit card - is he saying he wants the refund showing back on his card before paying again ?

That's what's so annoying. I also wrote at top and bottom of item description that I do not accept paypal

Yes I think so

Unfortuately I think you'll just have to bear with him/ the banking system - he either hasn't got the spare funds to make the second payment before he gets the refund, or doesn't trust Paypal to refund the money.......

Do I reject the payment via e-bay or do I need to go to pay-pal to reject the payment?

You need to log into Paypal and do it from there - if the payment is one your account would not allow (debit/ credit card to a Paypal personal account) I think you click on the 'reject' button on the overview page, otherwise you will need to select the payment and click on the refund button near the bottom of the detailed information page for the payment.
