Help with sausages please

My OH likes the 'best' sausages Finest or Mr S ultimate pork and I am finding them too expensive for my budget. I don't have a local butcher only Mr T and Mr S. Can anyone recommend a cheaper good pork sausage? Thanks. Jan.

Er....no, unfortunately. Although I only buy freedom food/outdoor reared pork, but Tesco and Sainsbury's ranges are about the best value readily available premium sausages I've found.
However, they are on special offer regularly, and I always stock up. Also, I find the children think they've been cheated if they get just one sausage (even though there's QUITE enough calories and fat in just one), so buying the chipolatas (12 instead of 6, same price) and giving them two looks more generous for the same money-maybe the same trick would work on your OH?
And you could always try making sausagemeat patties (pork mince, fried onion/apple/herbs) as a sausage alternative. Do you think that would work?import this0 -
we like walls pork sausages, the newish ones. but try to get them when on offer. i like to get sausages with 80% min meat content, and recently found Mr M's butcher style sausage meat in a roll that is 80% min meat, which was only £1.45 but i havent tried it yet, i tend to remove skins anyway as i dont like them, so make little patties instead.

I have been buying the M&S ones for 97p for 8.
My 2 sons (grown up) who always seem to come home for weekend breakfasts were always really fussy about sausages but they love these as long as they are well done.
In fact I am having a sausage sandwich on homemade bread for my tea tonight.
Just waiting for the bread to come out of the machine.

Hi Thank you Laurel7172, yes that's the reason we like the Mr S sausages, they are outdoor reared pigs. Also thanks for your idea about onions etc but my OH will only eat plain food without bits as he puts it, even mayonnaise is exotic to him! As he is in his 60s can't see him changing but I usually substitute leeks for onions so maybe I will try that.
Thanks for the other ideas. Jan.0 -
Aldi have some lovely good quality sausages and they are 99p for 8
Or Farmfoods do frozen Richmond sausages I think they are £1.99 for 20Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Surrey Whites (I like the chipolatas)
Sometimes Asda do them 3 packs for £6, I buy lots & freeze them.0 -
I tend to wait until they're on special offer and buy a load to put in the freezer - a while ago my local Tesco was selling trays of 12 sausages for £1 (they weren't Finest, but they were good, 80%ish meat ones). I've got the last ones for dinner on Sunday, then I'll have to wait until the next good deal comes up!Back after a very long break!0

Porkinsons are delicious-and often on offer, really good meaty bangers-made with 80% pork shoulder, and outdoor reared.0

My local MR M stopped selling that months ago, shame as I really liked it and bought quite a bit. I used to use it to make sausage rolls and they were very nice.0 -

Tesco's Butcher's Choice range are just about as good as these. They come in the waxy paper rather than trays. Lincolnshire or Pork and Herb tend to be my favourite0
