ESA Claim - logistical problems

In the past year I have had 5 med certs go 'missing' by the ESA lot!!! Funnily enough if you go to your MP and get them to call up you can guarantee that they suddenly find your 'missing' medical cert. Only once has it actually genuinely been lost when I did have to get a copy of it from my doctor.0

I work in a BDC and as far as we are concerned it would be a very definate one off, we do accept that there may be an occasion when a customer has not been able to get a med cert to us on time. It would not be an acceptable use of JCP time to basically process med certs all day. At the end of the day its the customers responsibility to get med certs in on time and the BDC's responsibility to process them as soon as they are recieved. Unfortunately the bit in the middle is dependant on Royal mail. Also its AMAZING just how many people call in to say they have not had their payment and their med cert has run out so they say "well I havent had my reminder yet" as if we are babysitters for their claim, the letters are a curtesy reminder, its not alot to ask that people take responsibility for their claim..........is it??
It's just very frustraiting if you are ill, like me struggle to get out, housebound when on your own, royal mail have made things difficult, our paperwork goes missing in the postal system, we loose our benefits and have to start again, when you have bills that need paying and kids to feed... and the helpline is so busy it can take days to get through. we know its royal mail that have caused this, not the benefits system, it just seems that sometimes they are un sympatheticLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -

Its not that we ever mean to be unsympathetic, on a personal level we do appreciate where (most) people are coming from. The simple fact is that as ESA is a sickness benefit legally we need that medical evidence before we can pay.Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0
