Wasps

My dad got rid of a wasps nest from my grandma's garage. He just wore gardening gauntlets and put a carrier bag over it and dislodged it then tied it off. Rather like collecting a swarm of bees. Not sure what he did with the bag of wasps though. I think I'd be inclined to put in in a full bucket of water with a lid or board over it and leave it for a couple of hours.0

After being stung earlier in the year for the first time ever make sure your covered up it hurts like hell for a few days and my hand felt numb for a bit.
If things go wrong the fire brigade are available on 999 or 911 and you can get a new shed from b&q.
£30 to get shut of it jees I would have a go too.0 -

anti-histamine tablets £4.99, antibiotics for infected wasp bites prescription £6.65. New tea-towel to replace one covering your head £1.99. Replace singed bit of shed wall near wasps nest where blow torching was a bit too strong...
£30 looking cheap.
Being stung repeatedly by one wasp or one sting by many wasps could leave you with a life-long allergy to wasp stings (or worse).

Being stung by a wasp hurts quite a lot, much worse than bees, but it still doesn't do you any real harm unless you're allergic. Best to avoid getting stung if possible, hence why my dad trapped them in a carrier bag. However if you do get stung just put some ice or a packet of frozen peas on it to numb the area and reduce the swelling. Free and effective. You won't need anti-histamines unless you have an allergy to wasp stings (in which case don't go near them, get someone else to do it) and I have never heard of anyone having an infected wasp or bee sting (and my dad keeps bees, he's been stung a lot and I've been stung a few times myself) though it might be possible. Don't fancy the idea of having a tea towel flapping around near a blow torch though.0
