I doubt they would be official windows 7 as it hasn't been officially released yet.
We already have it!

I know its been out as a RC demo, and more recently as RTM on MSDN and for students etc but cannot think of a way any on Ebay would "legally" have a proper retail or OEM license as they are not available until 22nd October. This is also the date netbooks with it preinstalled are slated to be released. We already have it!

I was planning on getting my nearly 9 year old a netbook for Christmas, will this be ok? I didn't want to spend much with him being so young. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

I think it would be good. However, I would consider waiting as Windows 7 models are due to come up in about a week (22nd) and then places will probably want to get rid of their Windows XP stock, hopefully giving some bargains to be had.
If you're a student studying certain computer courses you can also access it for download through some sort of scheme, can't remember what it's called. People seem to have missed the reallly big USP with this netbook - it has a manufacturer's 2 year warranty as standard, something that other manufacturers offer for a £99-ish option. Bargain, I ended up getting one and rate it highly...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
For those buying for the young ones - this netbook will be online all the time presumably - and a very portable machine that can be used in any corner of the house. You might have to consider adding some sort of Parental Control software to the deal.
e.g. http://www1.k9webprotection.com/ but I am sure others can add their idea of what is free & good.0 -
A better option is a router which can control these sort of things (but it needs a bit of know-how to configure). Routers with this sort of control can also control times that the internet is available, so there's (hopefully) no arguments about how late they can use it till. For those buying for the young ones - this netbook will be online all the time presumably - and a very portable machine that can be used in any corner of the house. One of the things that may concern some parents is the inclusion of a webcam, as it may provide a means for some of the less savoury population of internet users to see your kids. Hopefully education and observation is all that should be needed, but I suspect a little paint over the camera lens would be the best way of disabling the webcam.0 -
thats super cheap. Last year the same thing was 350, I bought one back then0
