I'm not a proffessional but I have been suffering with similar coughing for 3 weeks now and just can't get rid of it. If it is anything like my cough then you have perhaps just coughed so hard that you have broken some little blood vessels. I know I have been coughing so hard that all my ribs and chest have ached. If you worried ring NHS direct or pop to see docs on MOnday. I sometimes get blood coughed up when I'm full up with colds, but I think that is usually from blood vessels in my nose that have burst from all the blowing it etc - sorry too much info!skinnyribs1949 wrote: »hi guys ok so bit off topic which is really unusual for me right?? as some of you may know ive had a cold or flu bug and have been coughing like mad the last couple of days its a very dry cough with nothing behind it anyways so went to the toilet just now had a really hard cough and and ive brought up blood  is that anything to worry about my partners at work and kids in bed so thought id ask on here just in case any of you work in the profession

How rotten for you. It is a worry if you see blood but I remember having a cough once that just wouldn't go away and in the end my fella refused to have me in the self hire removal van as he couldn't stand me coughing for 300 miles! :rotfl:
As the other lady said, don't worry and I hope you feel better soon. Warm not hot drinks are good with honey and lemon.Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.0 -
Hi. Noticed the comments about coughing, I've had it for 6-8 weeks now. Doc prescribed pholcodine - its available over the counter for about £2 a bottle.
It has helped - it stops you coughing enough for the soreness in the throat to ease & the voice to come back. Hopefully it would help some of you.
I'm going to have x rays though cause if I don't take it for a couple of days the coughing starts again.0 -

Aww you poor thing. I'm about to go into my 4th week of coughing and it really is driving me mad. Perhaps I will have to try the stuff you suggest. This cough seems to be doing the rounds at the mo and no one seems to be able to shake it off very easily. I know a few people that have been suffering for over a month and looks like I'm heading that way too.0
